The black terrier is a rare colour variety with a deep, even black coat. Instead of the classic blue and gold, it carries a rich blackness that gives it a striking, elegant look. In Slovenia the black terrier is exceptionally rare.
Temperament
For all its small size, the black terrier is a terrier at heart. It is brave, self-assured and curious, yet deeply attached to its family. It likes to be at the centre of things and thrives in the company of its people. It is bright and learns quickly, so it responds beautifully to kind, positive training.
Appearance and coat
It has a long, silky, glossy coat that does not shed the way many other breeds do, which often makes it more comfortable for people sensitive to dog hair. The coat needs regular care and brushing to stay beautiful and free of tangles. It is small and easy to manage, and suits apartment life well.
Health and breeding
Our black terriers are bred thoughtfully, with the emphasis on health and a pure black line. Breeding takes place under the Slovenian Kennel Club (KZS). We look for stud dogs abroad in order to keep a varied gene pool. Health and a stable temperament come first when we choose the parents.
Who it suits
The black terrier is a wonderful family dog, suited to individuals and families alike. Being small and adaptable, it does well in an apartment, but it needs daily company, some exercise and a great deal of love. In return it gives you the loyalty and warmth that only small dogs with big hearts can offer.
